Genesis 18:6

  • Context: Abraham receives 3 visitors and offers them food and water.
  • Thoughts: We should always seek the presence of God and do everything to remain there.

1. Samuel 21:8

  • Context: David starts to flee from Saul after being warned by Jonathan.
  • Thoughts: When God warns about something, we should not procrastinate.

2. Kings 4:29

  • Context: The Shunammite woman reports the death of her son to Elisha who sends his servant.
  • Thoughts: Sometimes God might send us on a failing mission to destroy wrong thought patterns and increase faith.

2. Chronicles 24:5

  • Context: Joash wants to restore the temple and urges the priests to collect money.
  • Thoughts: God’s kingdom needs resources, and we should be transparent about that.

2. Chronicles 35:21

  • Context: Josiah goes out to meet Necho in battle, who is on an urgent mission for God.
  • Thoughts: If people are on a mission for God, we should best stay out of there way (or support them)

Esther 6:10

  • Context: Haman proposes a great honor thinking that it is intended for him. The kings accepts and executes it immediately.
  • Thoughts: Faithful people should be recognized and rewarded without delay and envy.

Psalms 119:60

  • Thoughts: Failure of keeping God’s commands allows no delay.

Zecharia 8:21

  • Context: God reminds Judah of His covenant love and predicts that many nations will come to Jerusalem.
  • Thoughts: Once we have experienced God we should immediately invite others as well.

Matthew 28:7

  • Context: The angel at the tomb tells the women to bring the message to the disciples.
  • Thoughts: Prophecies, impressions, words for others should be shared right away.

Luke 10:4

  • Context: Jesus sends the 70 to every town that He plans to visit later.
  • Thoughts: God’s timing is always perfect. If He demands urgency, then urgency it is.

Luke 14:21

  • Context: In the parable of the banquet, the Jews refuse to come and find excuses.
  • Thoughts: The time to come to God is now. Nothing can be more important.

Why all the urgency?

  • The most important thing is that our names are written in heaven! (Luke 10:20)
