The Church in God’s Grand Design

1. The Church and Christ’s Cosmic Authority (Ephesians 1:20–23)

• Christ is exalted above all powers; the church operates under His full authority (Ephesians 1:20–22)
• The church is the fullness of Christ—equipped and complete in Him (Ephesians 1:23)
• We must not view ourselves through lack but through our position in Christ
• The church is central, not peripheral, in God’s eternal plan

2. The Church’s Identity and Mission (1 Peter 2:9–10)

• The church is chosen, royal, priestly, and holy—a people of God’s own possession (1 Peter 2:9)
• Its calling is to declare God’s praises and draw people from darkness to light (1 Peter 2:9)
• Our authority comes with accountability and intercessory responsibility
• The church must be known more for what it offers than what it rejects

3. The Church’s Authority and Courage (Matthew 16:18–19)

• Christ alone is the foundation—His church will not be overcome (Matthew 16:18)
• The keys of the kingdom represent the church’s role in opening access to Christ (Matthew 16:19)
• Binding and loosing reflect our spiritual authority in Christ
• The church is not on defense—it is advancing with boldness into darkness

4. The Church as a Spirit-Filled Community (Acts 2:42–47)

• The early church was marked by awe, unity, generosity, and worship (Acts 2:42–44)
• Their life together reflected God’s presence and power (Acts 2:43)
• They focused on obedience and devotion—God took care of the growth (Acts 2:47)
• The church was not just different from the world—it was distinctively divine

Living It Today: Being the Church in a Watching World

• Be awed by the reality that you are part of God’s eternal plan (Ephesians 1:22–23)
• Embrace your identity as part of a holy, missional people (1 Peter 2:9)
• Walk in spiritual authority with humility and courage (Matthew 16:19)
• Prioritize God’s presence and obedience over numbers and visibility (Acts 2:42–47)
