Three “Therefores”: From Worry to Kingdom Living

Verse reference: Matthew 6:25-34

1. “Therefore… do not worry about your life” (v. 25)

Looking back to v. 24: “You cannot serve both God and mammon”

  • Worry reveals where our trust is placed—God or a rival master (Matthew 6:24).
  • Jesus connects anxiety to divided allegiance, not just emotion (Matthew 6:25).
  • True peace begins by fixing our eyes on the right Master (Matthew 6:21).

2. “Therefore… do not worry, saying ‘What shall we eat?’” (v. 31)

Looking back to vv. 26–30: Birds, lilies, and the Father’s knowledge

  • Creation testifies that the Father is actively providing (Matthew 6:26).
  • If He cares for the lesser, He certainly cares for His children (Matthew 6:30).
  • Trust reflects the Father’s glory; worry obscures it (Matthew 6:32).

3. “Therefore… do not worry about tomorrow” (v. 34)

Looking back to v. 33: “Seek first His Kingdom”

  • Kingdom-first living means God’s glory and reign shape our choices (Matthew 6:33).
  • God gives grace one day at a time—like daily bread (Matthew 6:11).
  • Worrying about tomorrow is trying to hold what only God can hold (Matthew 6:34).
