A Life Shaped by Mercy (Romans 12)
1. Mercy Before Everything
- God’s mercy is the foundation of all transformation, not our effort (Romans 12:1)
- We deserved judgment but received mercy through Christ
- Worship begins with remembering what God has done for us
2. Surrender Is Worship
- Offering our bodies means total availability, not partial devotion (Romans 12:1–2)
- True worship happens in everyday decisions, especially costly ones
- “God, your mercy defines me—help me act accordingly now”
3. Grace Defines Our Identity
- I cannot boast, because everything is grace (Romans 12:3)
- I cannot condemn myself, because everything is grace
- We live in sober judgment: neither pride nor insecurity
4. We Complement, Not Compete
- We are one body with different functions (Romans 12:4–6)
- Gifts are given, not achieved—so comparison loses meaning
- Love actively strengthens the gifts of others
5. Love That Goes Against Nature
- Love is sincere: it hates evil and clings to good (Romans 12:9)
- We don’t just avoid evil—we actively do good, even to enemies
- Pride, self-righteousness, and envy are replaced by mercy
Application: Practical Mercy This Week
- Identify one person you struggle with
- Do one intentional, concrete act of good toward them
- Act not from feeling, but from remembered mercy (Romans 12:20)
