Living as People of the Day

Living our identity in every sphere of life (Romans 13)

1. God’s Order: Submission as Worship (Romans 13:1–7)

  • Authority is God’s instrument to restrain evil and promote good
  • Submission is ultimately obedience to God, not merely to man
  • Even imperfect governments are recognized as part of God’s order

2. God’s Law: Love as Fulfilment (Romans 13:8–10)

  • Love fulfills the law by expressing its true intent
  • The commandments define and guard what true love looks like
  • Love moves beyond minimal obedience into wholehearted devotion

3. God’s Time: Urgency to Live in the Light (Romans 13:11–14)

  • We live in the overlap of night fading and day dawning
  • Christians actively put off darkness and put on Christ daily
  • Our lives reflect the reality of the coming kingdom already at work

Application: Visible Christianity in Everyday Life (Reflection & Discussion)

  • Where do I subtly resist authority (in attitude, speech, or action) – and what would conscious obedience to God look like there this week?
  • Where is my “love” shaped more by personal preference than by God’s commands – and what needs to change?
  • What is one specific pattern of darkness I need to put off – and what concrete step would it mean to “put on Christ” instead?
