Seek God and Live – A study of Amos 4:1–5:6

1. Hollow Worship

• God mocks Israel’s sacrifices because they were self-centered, not God-centered (Amos 4:4–5).
• True worship flows from love and obedience, not from show (John 4:23).

2. Injustice Exposed

• Prosperity hid deep corruption—oppression of the poor and misuse of power (Amos 4:1).
• God demands justice as part of covenant faithfulness (Micah 6:10–12).

3. God’s Lament

• Amos sings a funeral song over Israel before judgment falls (Amos 5:1–3).
• God’s heart breaks over sin even as He judges (Hosea 11:8–9).

4. A Way Back to Life

• Even in judgment, God calls: “Seek me and live” (Amos 5:4–6).
• Judgment aims not at destruction, but at restoration (Jeremiah 29:11–14).
• Jesus echoes this call: “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
